I've had these installed in my 2008 (3.1) mac pro for over a year now. I rarely if ever turn the machine off (last uptime was 120+ days) and have yet to have any issue with stability or performance. I have them combined with 4 generic 1 gb chips for 12 gb total. Per the mac install instructions and those on owc (otherworldcomputing.com) I have the 1 gb chips in riser a 1 & 2 and b 1 & 2 (matched pairs) then the 4 gb chips in riser A 3 & 4. Note if you don't install them in matched pairs in the corresponding slots, the memory won't be recognized (machine still boots but you won't see your new ram show up in system profiler).

These tend to run a little hotter (around 155 degrees F at 70 degrees F ambient, whereas the 1 gb modules run around 145F)- not sure if it's the particular location within the case or if it's because there's more chips but I haven't seen any issues as a result. The heatsinks look just as beefy as the other factory standard modules.

Well i purchased more ram for my (3,1) mac pro 2.8 harper. For after effects. the first pair only lasted 1 week because they broke, and then i put a replacement for a new one, it was very fast (thanks Amazon). the new ones seems to work very good i hope that these ones last more (well its said that is very difficult to have 2 bad rams in a row haha)

now i have 14 GB of ram (i had previously 6gb).

the Crucial design is identical to the original mac ram From apple.

If the new pair lasts more than 6 months ill change it to 5 stars.
